The Fashion Establish of Design & Merchandising (FIDM) is a private for-profit higher with multiple campuses in California. It offers degree programs in majors including style, amusement, dazzler, interior design, and graphic blueprint. The college was founded in 1969 by Tonian Hohberg, the institute's president and CEO.[1] [2]

Academics [edit]

The higher offers 26 associate of arts caste programs; a Bachelor of Science caste in business direction, which is too available via distance learning; and nine Bachelor of Arts degree programs. The higher also offers a primary in business organisation administration degree.[two]

The college is accredited by the WASC Senior College and University Committee.[3] Due to a commission review finding problems in sustainability and faculty oversight in 2019, status has inverse from "Accredited" to "Accredited with Notice of Concern".[4] Information technology is also an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Fine art and Pattern (NASAD).[5]

Campuses [edit]

The college has three campuses: Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Orangish County.[two] The campuses feature the modern architecture of Clive Wilkinson.[6] [vii] [8] [9]

FIDM's main campus in Los Angeles features innovative study spaces, a design studio, and the FIDM Museum and Galleries. The San Francisco campus is located in Wedlock Square.[ten] The accolade-winning Orangish County campus is a visual experience with lofts, an indoor/outdoor student lounge, bright colors, and a unique audiovisual igloo. Students can have their first year of classes at the Orange County and San Francisco campuses, only have to transfer to the Los Angeles campus for their 2nd yr.

In popular culture [edit]

FIDM served every bit the location of Lifetime's Projection Track season six,[xi] Project Runway: Nether the Gunn,[12] Project Rail: Threads,[xiii] and Project Rail: Junior. Several FIDM alumni, including Santino Rice, Daniel Franco, Guadalupe Vidal, Kelli Martin, and Leann Marshall, were contestants on the original Projection Rails show.[fourteen] FIDM was also featured in the MTV show The Hills, which shows the life of upcoming fashion designer, Lauren Conrad, who comes from Laguna Beach and wants to get famous for her designs.[15]

FIDM Museum [edit]

The Fashion Institute of Pattern & Merchandising Museum, located at the Los Angeles Campus, is home to a large drove of fashion and costume pieces from the 1800s to today. The museum features permanent and temporary exhibits, including costumes and designs from early on 20th-century Hollywood, theater, and current boob tube shows and films. The FIDM Museum Permanent Collection features more than xv,000 objects representing over 200 years of fashion, spanning haute couture, ready-to-wearable, international ensembles, flick costumes, and fragrance. Highlights of the drove include the Lilli Ann, Michael Arnaud, Damask Cecil Beaton, Nancy Dinsmore, Rudi Gernreich, Stella Hanania, Helen Larson, Tina Leser, Maurice Levin, and Gianni Versace Menswear athenaeum.[16] [17] [xviii]

Due to COVID-19 concerns, the FIDM Museum Los Angeles and Orange County galleries are at present closed. It is possible to browse the FIDM online collections.[19] [20]
